About us

What we offer

The plough is run independently by our Family plus loyal staff some of who have been here over 20 years.

We offer a range of ales wines & spirits and good homemade food cooked fresh daily which is served in the bars, our library and for a quieter meal in our stable restaurant, this was a stable originally, see our functions page for details of Wakes, private parties etc.

Our Pub

The front offers a large seated patio area where weather permitting food is served, and beyond that a large common with bench seating and play toys for the younger children. It's a no-smoking pub except for the common. Dogs are welcome in or out but must be under control.

We boast of the 2 best teams for quizzing in the Oxfordshire league.

We can also boast of many celebrities who have visited us over the years including the late Colin Dexter, Kevin Whately, Laurence Fox all from "Morse", Sir Richard Branson, Martin Keown, plus many more.

Where to find us

We are 2 miles from Oxford town centre and can be reached regularly by the no 6 & S3 buses, also the train station Oxford Parkway which is 1,5 miles away and will be next to the new Oxford United Football ground in 2025.

Booking Information

Can we please advise that if you'd like to dine with us that you book a table in advance as we are getting booked up on certain days and aren't always able to accommodate everyone. Please also include all members of your party including animals so we can make sure there is enough space. With the weather turning we can't always able to serve outside now. Many thanks
